Do not expect however a “Pattaya or Phuket” style of nightlife.
There are to my knowledge no “gogo” bars and night sessions are
limited to – no lets make that feature – outdoor beer bars and
restaurants where the food especially that provided by the sea
is plentiful, excellent and cheap.
First inhabited by sea gypsies the visitor will see much of their way of life
still exists; in fact much of the old town looks like it was caught in a 19th
century time warp.
Is Koh Lanta worth a visit? Yep. Is it hard to get to?
Yep, but worth it. Phuket is the most used port of embarkation
with ferries leaving often from Phuket via Phi Phi Island to Koh Lanta. As well it is convenient to drive from Phuket via Phang Na and Krabi.
There is at least one VIP service on Lanta Island that could spare
you a lot of inconvenience in hassles such as humping your luggage
and other travel-related pains.
