Pattaya's Islands

The Lan Islands are about 7.5 kilometers from South Pattaya Beach, or about only 40 minutes by passenger ferry.  Tourists prefer a swim along several beaches around these islands because of the white sand and clear water.  Hat Ta Waen is popular for its bustling touristy atmosphere, aquatic sport gear, souvenir shops, and restaurants.  Hat Thian offers a more restful atmosphere.  Other small islets in the area, like Ko Krok or Ko Sak are popular for scuba diving and fishing.  There is also a diving school.  The Phai Islands are under the charge of the Royal Thai Navy.  Overnight camping is not permitted, but fishing, swimming and scuba diving around the islets in the area are possible.

Ko Lan  is just one of the many small Islands off Pattaya's shores. Get away from your getaway in Pattaya with a private of charted trip to many of the Islands. 45 minutes offshore by tourist boat or 15 minutes by speed boat, is the largest of Pattaya's archipelago. Major attractions include viewing coral reefs from glass bottomed boats, snorkeling, scuba diving, wind-surfing, skiing and parasailing. There are a lot of seafood restaurants on the island's main beaches. Deep sea fishing can be arranged to Ko Lan's neighboring islands such as Ko Khrok and Ko Sak.

Beyond Ko Lan another 40 minutes sail is Ko Phai an island currently under the care of the Royal Navy. Visitors are not allowed to stay overnight here, but it has fine deserted beaches that are open during the day. All the nearby islands are easy to get to and charters can be arranged through the hotel tour desk or by negotiating a price direct with the boat owners. Boat charters cost 1,000-5,000 baht per day depending on the season and size of the boat.
