A rugged district nestled in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai, Mae Taeng is home to tumbling waterfalls, plunging valleys and pristine wilderness. This area is also known for its large populations of ethnic hill tribes such as the Karen, Akha, Lisu and Lahu. In this 2-day Mae Taeng Jungle Adventures, we will bring you off the beaten trails to experience local cultures and spectacular scenery on this Thailand tour.

The journey starts with a walk through a local market where you have the opportunity to witness Chiang Mai's lifestyles and customs. Led by your experienced guide, trek up the lush mountains which are dotted with hill tribe villages. You will spend the night at a homestay in a Karen village, where you have the opportunity to experience and participate in the Karen's traditional way of life. The Karen people are one of the largest hill tribes in Southeast Asia and are known for their colorful traditions and unique beliefs.

The second day begins with a short hike to an elephant sanctuary. Take a break from trekking and ride on an elephant's back through the dense jungle to a Lahu village. At this remote outpost, learn about the unique customs of the Lahu people while enjoying a picnic lunch with the friendly villagers. Have an exciting time sailing down the meandering Mae Taeng River on a bamboo raft to a Shan village. Finally, drive through the scenic mountains back to Chiang Mai and your jungle adventure comes to a close.
