Just south of Bangkok’s vibrant capital lies the garden province of Samut Songkhram and the island of Amphawa. On this overnight escape, you will get a taste of rural Thai life without having to venture far from Bangkok.
Departing Bangkok by road, your first stop is a unique market situated upon the railway tracks. Continue to an authentic floating market, Tha Kha, where a paddleboat will take you through the waterways. Stop to taste local treats such as coconut sugar syrup and fresh fruits and to talk to the friendly locals.
Spend an afternoon cycling around Amphawa Island, a tranquil haven filled with lychee plantations and temples. In the evening take a boat ride to witness a beautiful spectacle as hundreds of fire flies light up the night sky against the otherwise dark riverside.
